It's Haldon Gold Cup day at Exeter on Tuesday
Timeform have a look at the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter on Tuesday.
Menorah is a very smart hurdler and ran to a similar level when taking Grade 1 novice chase (2m) at Aintree last April. Went well long way at Punchestown later that month, though still needs to brush up jumping.
Edgardo Sol mixed hurdling and chasing last season, better than ever to land Red Rum Chase at Aintree in April. Back over fences on return after disappointing in Scottish Champion Hurdle 9 days later.
Cue Card was a very smart novice hurdler and similar over fences, winning 2 of 4 completed starts and was only horse to get close to Sprinter Sacre when second in Arkle at festival (Menorah well behind).
Renard landed 4 handicap chases last term. Off nearly 7 months, not discredited when third to easy winner Oiseau de Nuit at Chepstow last month, though will need to step up again to feature here.
Webberys Dream made up into useful novice chaser last season, winning over 21f at Wincanton in January. Last seen over hurdles 6 months ago, but up against it in this company from 11 lb out of weights.
Timeform 1-2-3
1. Cue Card
2. Menorah
3. Edgardo Sol
Timeform View: Cue Card goes well fresh (has won on seasonal bow last 3 years) and lost no caste in defeat when second to Bobs Worth and Sprinter Sacre either side of beating For Non Stop at Newbury last term. He should confirm Arkle form with Menorah, who is preferred to Edgardo Sol for the forecast.
