Steve Evans' Rotherham side have looked impressive in recent weeks.
After trips to France and Turkey in his first column of the week, Jonno Turner stays slightly closer to home today.
We're off to Charlton for our first pick of the day - and the in-form Addicks host Peterborough United at The Valley, looking to continue their impressive recent run of results.
Chris Powell's side have lost just one of their last seven outings before this tie, and that has seen the hosts move into 15th place in the Championship.
Confidence will be high in south London, and three wins from their last four suggests that the home side have developed a cutting edge in recent weeks which was lacking at the beginning of the campaign.
Performances have been excellent of late, but what will particularly please Powell is the fact that his side have managed to secure two clean sheets from their last three encounters - indicating that they have sufficiently tightened up at the back following eight goals conceded in two games at the beginning of this month.
Visitors Peterborough have endured a miserable run in recent weeks - and no wins from five (and four losses in that time) sees them floundering at the bottom of the division.
Posh have shipped a whopping 11 goals in five games, and that will ring alarm bells with boss Darren Ferguson, who has not seen his side win on their travels since the first weekend of October.
2012 has not been a fruitful year for todays visitors, who have managed just two wins away from London Road all year - and with tricky ties at Charlton, Cardiff, Wolves and Bristol City to see out December, it doesn't look like things will be getting much better for the Cambridgeshire side any time soon.
Charlton have won the last four meetings between these sides - and recent results suggest that that isn't going to change this evening, so I'm backing the home win.
Bet 1: Charlton Athletic (HOME) @ 1.82
Dropping a couple of divisions now, to League Two - as out of sorts Acrrington Stanley welcome Rotherham United to the Crown Ground, looking to get their season back on track under new manager Leam Richardson.
The hosts were going great guns with former boss Paul Cook at the helm, but since he jumped ship to take over at Chesterfield, they have struggled to find the consistency necessary to launch a real challenge for the play-offs.
And the Lancashire club go into this game having won just one of their last five games - a return that has seen them slip down into 14th place in the league.
Specifically, four without a win from their last five on their own patch suggests that the Crown Ground is not the fortress it once was - and Richardson will be desperate to arrest that slump tonight.
But five goals shipped in two games indicates that Stanley have defensive issues which require attention - and they have kept just four clean sheets in 23.
Seventh placed Rotherham, on the other hand, travel over the Pennines full of confidence following an impressive 1-0 win at Exeter last Saturday - and boss Steve Evans will be keen that his side put in another hard-working shift this evening.
The Millers were touted as ones to watch in pre season, and if truth be told, will probably be disappointed not to be in and around the top three with a third of the campaign gone - but they are hard to beat, as one loss from six on the road shows.
Four clean sheets from half a dozen games away from the New York Stadium suggests that Evans has assembled a solid side in South Yorkshire - and amke no mistake, they will be eyeing three points in this one.
Having won three of the last four clashes between these sides, history certainly favours this visitors.
Bet 2: Rotherham United (AWAY) @ 2.36
