Ruby takes the ride on Black Thunder

Today's Follow the Money selections race at Haydock and Ascot

Black Thunder in the 12:55 at Haydock has been heavily supported on the exchanges this morning, backed in to 5.69/2 from 9.417/2. Ruby Walsh has the ride on this 5-year-old who has won twice as a novice hurdler over similar conditions and produced an encouraging performance last time out at Kempton running off the same mark. The market suggests that Paul Nicholls could be in line for another winner in this race.

Next up is the 14:00 at Haydock where Universal Solider has been solidly backed in from 6.5n/a to 4.3100/30. This Charlie Longsdon-trained 7 yo is lightly raced and is a proven performer on soft ground. Performed well at Cheltenham in an amateur race last time out but is reacquainted with Felix De Gilles today who rode him to an impressive victory at Towcester last January. A big performance is clearly expected.

At Ascot in the 14:10 Finians Rainbow makes his seasonal bow after triumphant displays at Cheltenham and Aintree last term. However, he has been negative on the exchange this morning, drifted from 1.910/11 to 2.0621/20. Such negativity is likely due to the fact that this is his return from a good while away from the track. He only scrambled home on last year's return and some of rivals today, especially For Non Stop, will be hoping to push him all the way.
