It's tough times for Panathinaikos
With five winners from seven last week, Paul Robinson is back to pick out a few more odds-on lays and he's beginning in Greece where he feels Panathinaikos are too short for their trip to Kerkira.
Kerkira are 11th in the Greek Super League after picking up 10 points from their opening nine fixtures. Apostolos Mantzios has made a solid start to his managerial career there and a win tonight would see them go as high as seventh.
Victories have been hard to come by though as they've registered just two so far, however they are tough to beat, losing only three times, and they are currently on a run of five undefeated. There form at the Kerkyra Stadium is solid; played four, won one, drawn two and lost one, and they held second placed, PAOK last time out.
Panathinaikos are a shadow of their former selves after the Greek financial crisis affected them badly. They were forced to lose key players and replaced them with free transfers and members of the youth team. They failed to make it to the group stage of the Champions League and are currently winless in the Europa version.
Jesualdo Ferreira has seen his side do okay domestically; ninth with 12 points, however a win in their game in hand tonight would move them up to sixth. Similarly to their opponents though, winning has been a problem as The Greens have tasted victory on just three occasions this term.
This is usually a comfortable away win for Panathinaikos but their situation is very different this year and Kerkira are proving hard to beat. Last year's runners up are just too short at around the 1.9420/21 mark and that's why I'm making them my lay of the day.
