Robbie has been banging in the goals for Galaxy
Andrew Hughes thinks Los Angeles are a good bet to beat Portland Timbers and land a Saturday cross-sport multiple in the process.
Bet 1: Back Los Angeles to beat Portland Timbers at 1.574/7
The last time that Los Angeles met Portland, they played out an hour or so of pedestrian football before the game came to life to finish in a 2-2 draw. But Los Angeles have continued their improvement since then and are in much better form going into this one. They've won three of their last four and scored eleven goals in the process, their only slip-up coming on the road against high-flying Sporting Kansas.
Portland have managed narrow wins over Montreal and Colorado in recent weeks and are only three points behind Los Angeles, but have played three games more. With Robbie Keane in top gear and Landon Donovan showing signs of returning to his best form, Galaxy should have too much for their opponents. Back the home side to win.
Bet 2: Back Surrey to beat Worcestershire at 1.444/9
Worcestershire have surprised many with some of their performances in the shortest format this season, but their Natwest T20 Blast is likely to come to an end at the quarter-final stage on Saturday.
The Rapids did score a huge 209 to win their final Group game, but that was against a modest Derbyshire side. Without their star player Saeed Ajmal, who is playing in the Caribbean Premier League, Worcestershire will struggle to match Surrey.
Surrey can boast the firepower of Kevin Pietersen and Tillakaratne Dilshan, along with veteran Twenty20 specialist Azhar Mahmood and that edge in class and experience, combined with home advantage, should see them prevail.
Bet 3: Back David Goffin to beat Dominic Thiem at 2.111/10
Dominic Thiem goes into Saturday's Kitzbuhel Cup final as favourite. It's his home tournament, he's in his element on clay and this season has been a superb year for him. Of his 23 career wins so far, 17 have come in 2014.
But I think he could come unstuck against David Goffin, whose form has been even stronger. Since losing to Andy Murray in the opening round at Wimbledon, he's won nineteen consecutive matches, capturing three Challenger titles and only dropping one set along the way. Goffin, who has beaten Thiem on both of their previous meetings, may also also have a fitness edge over his opponent, who played two matches on Friday. Back the Belgian to pick up a fourth consecutive trophy.
