Cross-Sport Multiple: Back FC Zurich to bag another victory

Sunday's football action comes from the Swiss Premier League

Andrew Hughes thinks FC Zurich can continue their excellent start to the Swiss Premier League season and help land a Sunday multiple in the process

Bet 1: Back FC Zurich to beat Young Boys at 1.84/5

We have to wait until the middle of August for the English Premier League to get underway, but the Swiss version kicked off two weeks ago and on Sunday two of the better teams from the competition go head to head in Zurich.

Uli Forte had a good first season in charge of Young Boys, leading them to a solid third place finish, nine points higher than FC Zurich. But they've had a shaky start to the new season, dropping points against two of last year's bottom four clubs.

By contrast, their opponents on Sunday have made a flying start. FC Zurich have won all three of their games so far, including victory in the Zurich derby over Grasshoppers, last season's runners-up. They've only lost one of their last seven against the team from Bern and are a solid bet to pick up another three points.

Bet 2: Back Hampshire to beat Nottinghamshire at 2.15n/a

The tie of the quarter-final stages of this year's Natwest Blast Twenty20 has to be Sunday's encounter between last eight regulars Nottinghamshire and Hampshire.

Both teams won nine of their games, but Nottinghamshire finished second in the North Division to earn a home tie. They have a powerful batting line-up and will hope that the Trent Bridge crowd will be able to roar them to the semi-finals.

But I think Hampshire will edge this one. Knock-out cricket is another level of pressure entirely and they are packed with players who have experienced Finals Day, as well as one of the best Twenty20 players in the world, Glenn Maxwell. All three of Nottinghamshire's defeats have come at home and I think they will lost out again.

Bet 3: Back Huddersfield to beat Wakefield at 1.364/11

Wakefield's transformation in recent weeks has been little short of miraculous. When James Webster took over as coach two months ago, they were battling relegation, but since then, they've won five of their last seven, including victories over Wigan and Leeds, and are just two points off a play-off berth.

But I think their revival will falter against Huddersfield on Sunday. The Giants have not always been convincing this season, but they have been gaining momentum as the regular season reaches the business end. They've won six of their last eight, including an impressive victory over a tough Catalan side last weekend. Back the Giants to boost their chances of a top four spot against the Wildcats.
