Bristol City to beat Oxford @ 1.728/11
This writer fancies Bristol City for League One promotion this season, and they certainly started their challenge in appropriate fashion with a 2-1 victory away to favourites Sheffield United. The Robins have been toppled just once in their last 14 fixtures, winning four of the last six. Oxford are in the contrasting position of having lost eight of their last nine and won only two in 16, their 0-1 home reverse to Burton to open the League Two campaign hinting that their springtime slump left scars.
Millwall to beat Wycombe @ 1.538/15
You probably haven't devoted any time to considering Wycombe's relationship with the League Cup but, if you were to do so, you may recall their semi-final appearance in 2006/07, holding Chelsea at Adams Park before being outclassed in the return. Remarkably, they haven't won a match in the competition in the seven years since, losing six of their last nine in 90 minutes. Their Championship hosts Millwall are currently unbeaten in nine competitive games, conquering Leeds last time out.
Wolves to beat Northampton @ 1.444/9
Northampton accumulate Capital One Cup upsets like Italian club presidents collect coaches, their famous treble in 2010/11 of Brighton, Reading and Liverpool being followed by Ipswich in 2011/12 and Cardiff in 2012/13. However, Wolves are their kryptonite, with the League One winners seeing them to the exit with a 4-0 thrashing in 2011 and building on that with a 3-1 success in 2012. Both of those lessons were taught at Sixfields, so it is difficult to sculpt a case for Northampton at Molineux.
Bolton to beat Bury @ 1.674/6
This looks a too-good-to-be-true price given the two-division chasm between the teams, but all the stats support the Championship side, so we're tucking in. The last time Bury avoided defeat on their Capital One Cup travels was 2002. They aren't even great on the road at League Two level, drawing three and losing seven 2013/14 trips to top-ten clubs. Bolton have suffered a few recent Capital One Cup shocks - to Crawley in 2012 and Tranmere in 2013 - yet were last eliminated at home in 2008.
A 10 fourfold provides a 42.50 profit if successful
