Steve McClaren will be desperate for the Rams to make it two from two
Jonno Turner digs into the Football League and plucks out three picks to make up a multiple...
We're heading to the Championship for our first pick of this three team multiple, as Derby County make the short trip up the M1 to face Sheffield Wednesday.
The Rams began the new season in style with a 1-0 defeat of newly-promoted Rotherham United, and now they're eyeing a South Yorkshire double as they head to Hillsborough to face their hosts.
And the visitors have reason to be confident. Four unbeaten away from Pride Park, consisting three wins and a draw, suggests that they will be extremely difficult to break down, and Steve McClaren will be keen for his side to continue their 100% run.
Sheffield Wednesday also fared well last week, grinding out a 1-0 win at Brighton, and followed that up with another victory against Notts County in the cup in midweek.
But Stuart Gray's charges do not have a good record on their own patch - with four winless outings, and three defeats in that time, pointing to a crumbling core.
The home side have shipped 13 goals in that time, and will be hoping that they can replicate their most recent back to back clean sheets this afternoon.
But Derby are unbeaten in 12 against the Owls, and have won the last two meetings, which points to an away win for me.
Bet 1: Derby (AWAY) @ 2.35/4
Dropping to League One now, as top of the table Doncaster Rovers aim to make it two wins from two when they line up against Port Vale at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Paul Dickov's side enjoyed an opening day 3-0 win at Yeovil last weekend, and they will be desperate to continue that impressive start to the campaign here, in front of their own fans.
That makes it three wins from their last four third tier outings, and a pair of clean sheets suggests that they are more than capable of holding out their guests here.
Vale make the trip to South Yorkshire having endured a 1-1 stalemate with Walsall in their first game of the season - and that leaves them sitting 13th in the table.
But Micky Adams' side have been far from formidable in recent outings, and four without a win from four league games suggests that they are lacking a little cutting edge.
And on the road, they're even more barren. A whopping 13 games without victory away from Vale Park indicates that the visitors are likely to struggle here - and no goals scored in their last two trips points to a lack of fire power in the final third.
History favours the hosts in this meeting, and Doncaster have won the last four encounters between these two sides.
Bet 2: Doncaster Rovers (HOME) @ 1.9520/21
To the bottom tier now, as Burton Albion look to pile more pressure on the top two with a home win against bottom side Dagenham and Redbridge.
The Brewers grabbed three points from their first fixture of the new season last time out, an impressive 1-0 win at Oxford United, and followed that up with a surprise 2-1 defeat of Championship Wigan Athletic in the League Cup this week.
Gary Rowett's side now line up in front of their home fans in the league, and will be keen to maintain that momentum, as they look to mount a serious promotion challenge this year after just missing out last season.
The Pirelli Stadium is a notoriously hard one to visit, and eight unbeaten from their last 10 on their own patch suggests that the hosts can have confidence that they can secure a win here.
Visitors Dagenham and Redbridge make the arduous trip up from Essex having succumbed to an opening day home loss to Morecambe - and that makes it three losses from four league outings.
Nine goals shipped in that time points to serious holes in the Daggers defence, and just two notched at the other end suggests that they don't have much firepower in their ranks either.
It could be a long old season for the visitors - and without a win in three visits to Staffordshire, I don't foresee any respite for them this afternoon.
Bet 3: Burton (HOME) @ 1.664/6
