Neil's Placepot comes from Sandown
Neill Dennehy heads to Sandown for Friday's tilt at the Placepot...
13:40 - Biography is taken to get the meeting off to a flyer in the 5f maiden. The Richard Hannon trained half-brother to three winners progressed from debut when two-and-a-quarter lengths third behind Emirates Flyer at Bath last time. He was subsequently promoted to second having suffered interference. This speedy son of Assertive is likely to come on for that experience. The form has stood up well with the fourth going on to win at Chepstow next time and the disqualified second finishing runner-up at Nottingham. Richard Hughes takes over now.
14:10 - A three year old handicap where not many look to be progressing. Benoni has been in fair form of late running fourth at Leicester on his last two starts. He had looked to be in the grip of the handicapper, but has been dropped three pounds for that latest effort and Henry Candy's charge should run well again now. Kabbaas has been holding his form since breaking his maiden at Southwell in February. Roger Varian's gelding ran respectably in fifth at Lingfield most recently, but he was off the bridle before most and it is hoped that the application of blinkers can sharpen him up on turf debut.
14:40 - In division one of the maiden, Jeremy Noseda's Acclamation colt Zeshov should really be involved. He is a half-brother to the sharp Mister Marc and has the pedigree to do well at two. He is likely to progress from his debut at Haydock where he displayed greenness but ran on well for third. Zeshov should also enjoy the step up in trip to 7f.
15:15 - The second division of the maiden sees Hannon and Hughes likely to be involved at the finish again with their Invincible Spirit colt Downturn. He showed promise when three-and-a-quarter lengths third of five behind Coventry Stakes bound stablemate Wahaab in a Goodwood maiden. Despite being slowly away, Downturn travelled well and kept on nicely from the rear giving the impression he was one to keep onside for the future.
15:50 - Great Timing looked promising when breaking her maiden at the second attempt at Newmarket last season. She will probably want further than this soon enough, but is likely to shape well and should be keeping on at the finish on her seasonal reappearance for Said Bin Suroor. Estiqaama looks a solid proposition in the fillies handicap over a mile. The daughter of Nayef made all at Yarmouth on seasonal reappearance off a mark of 70, drawing clear with ease at the two furlong pole. It is likely that trainer William Haggas will have left something to work on and she still looks fairly treated off a mark of 76 today.
16:20 - Presburg looked unlucky not to finish closer when one-and-a-half lengths third to Cashpoint over course and distance last week. He couldn't get a clear run that day, but can make his presence felt now. Similar comments apply to Shavansky who was impeded last time when travelling strongly at Haydock. He simply ran out of road then and can recoup at least place money now for Rod Millman and Andrea Atzeni.
