Follow The Money: Wednesday wagers at Newton Abbot and Ayr

Can the FTM team nail another hat-trick today?

The Follow The Money team hit three winners from three tips yesterday and they're searching for more at Ayr and Newton Abbot today.

The first back of the day runs in the 14:40 at Ayr, where Keith Dalgleish's Tectonic has been backed from a high of 30.029/1 into 9.417/2. The four-year old gelding is running his third race for his new stable; his first being a half-length defeat over 1m at Hamilton to a very nicely weighted Richard Guest horse. In that race he had today's favourite, Cufflink, eight lengths back, receiving 6lbs. Today the selection is only receiving 4lbs, but it would take a huge effort for Cufflink to turn around such a defeat. We can put a line through his second race, as it was on soft ground at Newcastle, and he was never travelling anywhere near as well as he did  the week previously at Hamilton. A step up in trip could be the answer to Tectonic ending his 14 race maiden tag so we're taking a chance has to be taken on the very fairly priced selection.

Our lay of the day arrives in the 15:20 at Newton Abbot where No Loose Change has drifted from a morning low of 2.111/10 out to 2.56/4. The Paul Nicholls-trained 8yo reverts back to hurdles after having a hard time over fences for the past year and can be seen as a confidence booster, to get him back on track before tacking some of the summer's big handicap chases. No Loose Change is always ridden prominently in order to utilise his stamina, but a drop back to 2m6f will make it hard for him to dominate. Nicky Henderson has short-priced favourite Otto the Great in the race, and his horse Triolo D'Alene has form ties with No Loose Change beating him by 68 lengths last time out so Henderson should know exactly where he stands with today's lay. With the negatives against the selection, a chance has to be taken on him not handing out any change just yet.

Our second back of the day is Jim Best's Planetoid who has been backed from a high of 5.85/1 in to 2.56/4 to win the 16:20 at Newton Abbot. If his old flat form is anything to go by the selection comes into this handicap weighted very nicely and today's very strong market confidence suggests this could be the day on be aboard. The Best yard has hit some form, with none of his horses finishing out of the top-five in the last two weeks, so he clearly has his horses where he wants them. If Planetoid's jumping holds up today then he will take all the beating from this weak field.
