Follow The Money: Get on Ghanaian to go some

Two of today's FTM picks come from Fontwell

Today's Follow The Money picks out a back and a lay at Fontwell and one to support at Salisbury

We start with Fontwell's National Hunt card in which Wester Ross has drifted alarmingly in the betting, out to 3.55n/a from 2.942/1, for the opening 2m2f Handicap Chase at 14:15. Evan Williams' nine-year-old found some form last time at Newton Abbot, battling on well to land a similar event to this assignment and some his form last year was useful. However more evidence is needed before it can be assumed he is back to his best after a dismal end to the winter. He must defy a 7lb penalty and gives plenty of weight away to Try Catch Me who goes well at the track and likes to lead.

Later on at the same meeting Mutab has attracted support for the 15:15 2m4f Handicap Chase; he now trades at 9.28/1 after being earlier available at 13.5n/a. Maybe a return to a better surface helped Mark Gillard's eight-year-old at Taunton in April as he posted his best effort for some time and he encounters similar conditions this afternoon. Prior to that the form was less encouraging but he does boast winning hurdle form and the price may look generous if he is finally getting the hang of the larger obstacles.

Finally to Salisbury for the 16:35 7f Handicap in which Ghanaian has been backed in to 2.47/5 from 2.9215/8. Saeed Bin Suroor has been sending out winners of late from the string formerly under the care of Mahmood Al Zaroni and at least one more looks likely today. The filly completed her juvenile campaign last September with an excellent third in a competitive Newmarket nursery. She was beaten only a length and the form is working out nicely with all the others in the frame having soared up the rating since. Bearing that in mind a 2lb higher mark of 77 here must be very workable, assuming she's fully tuned up for this seasonal debut, and plenty more improvement seems likely.
