Proven multiple winner Mark Wilson is a massive price this week
Paul Krishnamurty's weekly trading plan takes in the St Jude Classic, a tournament which has produced plenty of big-priced shocks over the years....
Last week's profitable plan offered the perfect illustration of how one can make money trading golfers without them ever getting into serious contention. Russell Henley managed to hit the lay target of 20.019/1 simply by occupying a place on the second round leaderboard. This week at the St Jude Classic, I'm setting an even less ambitious target for the following two selections.
First up, an old favourite of this column at odds of 170.0169/1. For some reason, Mark Wilson always seems to be too readily dismissed by the market and considering this five-time PGA Tour winner can boast good recent form with third at Bay Hill plus ninth at the Heritage, that is once again the case. Perhaps that's partly because he hasn't played Southwind since struggling here seven years ago, but I can happily overlook that at these odds.
Next another proven multiple winner at huge odds. DJ Trahan finished inside the top-15 in two of the last two renewals, a mark he's also made twice on this year's PGA Tour. He finished miles back last time out in the Crowne Plaza, despite ranking second for greens in regulation and third for driving accuracy. Clearly the putter hasn't been working but at 360.0359/1, I'm prepared to take a speculative punt that he might fare better this week.
The trading advice is to stake three units in total, then place lay orders on both players at 25.024/1 and 3.02/1 to bank a profit.
