Paul Nicholls has some good chances at Exeter this afternoon
Timeform bring you three bets from today's meeting at Exeter...
The opening contest at Exeter can go the way of hurdling debutant Atlantic Roller. Paul Nicholls' charge shaped well in a couple of bumpers, finishing second on both occasions, including when last seen here in May. His main market rival, Gas Line Boy, was impressive when winning at Wincanton but consequently has to carry a 6 lb penalty. With that in mind, Atlantic Roller is preferred in the opener and can get his top connections off to a flying start.
Undeniably disappointing when sent off as a warm favourite at Cheltenham last time, That'lldoboy, who features in the 15:50, is given another chance to confirm the impression that he is a well handicapped performer. His jumping frailties were exposed last year, falling twice late on when still firmly in contention, but today's longer trip promises to suit well and the refitting of blinkers, which were absent at Cheltenham, may help to conjure an improved performance. If he puts it all together he should win off this mark.
Our final SmartPlay comes in the concluding staying hurdle as we take a chance that Farmer Matt can go one better than he managed on his handicap debut at Sedgefield last time. He was perhaps slightly unfortunate not to register his first victory on that occasion, bumping into a thriving rival who was well ahead of his mark. Fergal O'Brien's charge seemingly has plenty in his favour today, still looking well treated despite a 6 lb higher mark, and Paddy Brennan can boot him home to the delight of our SmartPlay followers.
