Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Boirche to make it nine at Dundalk

Racing takes place on the all-weather at Dundalk this evening

Timeform have picked out three more SmartPlays on another eight-race card at Dundalk...

Michael Halford is well established as one of the leading trainers at Dundalk and it will be something of a surprise if he fails to add to his tally at the track tonight. He runs two with sound claims in the handicap at 20:25, Bensoon and Saint By Day, with preference for the former who shaped like one whose turn wasn't far away when second to Atmospheric High here last time. Bensoon gets to run off the same mark here, is less exposed than the majority of these and looks sure to be involved at the business end provided cheekpieces work as well as they did last time.

Halford also has a good chance of landing the feature race on the card, the listed Carlingford Lough Stakes (20:55) with course specialist Banna Boirche. Already an eight-time winner at this venue, Banna Boirche wasn't seen to best effect in a race not run to suit here last time but prior to that he had been unlucky not to finish closer to Declaration of War on his first try at this trip. Banna Boirche rarely runs a bad race around here and he may not need to be at his best to account for the likes of Muck 'N' Brass and Paene Magnus.

Urban Ball was just touched off by Moo Sahara in a C&D event last month but looks to have been found a good chance to gain compensation in the concluding maiden at 21:25. That was Urban Ball's first run for four months so she is entitled to come on for it and she is proven at this trip, something that can't be said for her main market rival Edge of Sanity.
