Alan King has some good chances at Market Rasen today
Timeform's Tony McFadden brings you a Placepot permutation from today's only National Hunt meeting at Market Rasen...
12:40- Red Jade was a fair performer on the Flat and has made a decent transition to hurdling, making the frame on all four starts. A winner on his latest start at Worcester, Red Jade has since moved to the Kieran Burke yard and looks to hold strong claims at this level. Westlin' Winds has often appeared to be rather temperamental but he is not without ability and is also added to the perm due to his proven effectiveness on a testing surface.
13:10- There are a couple of interesting contenders here, including the winning pointer Minella For Steak who fetched 230,000 and makes his debut under rules today. However, we will side with the Alan King-trained duo of The Mumper and Uxizandre. The latter comes here with a big reputation having finished second in a four-year-old hurdle in France, whilst the former was a fair performer in bumpers and is entitled to improve on his promising third at Plumpton.
13:40- It is difficult to overlook the claims of Changing Times and we will bank on him to see us through to the fourth leg. He travelled with plenty of zest at Taunton, only narrowly going down to Molotof, and a reproduction of that level of form should be enough to gain victory here.
14:10- A tricky leg to negotiate with only the four remaining and we will take a bit of a chance, banking on the reliable Midnight Sail. He has finished in the first two on his last five starts and shaped better than the bare result at Stratford last time, losing ground with a bad mistake at the third-last fence. He has strong claims based on that effort and can hopefully get his head back in front.
14:40- Ulis de Vassy is potentially well treated, but he doesn't appeal as the ideal type for a Placepot having disappointed last time, so we will instead opt for Likearollingstone. Sean Curran's seven-year-old was last seen in August, winning at Southwell with a bit to spare, and is the first horse on our shortlist. Red Hot Poker was asked to compete in a significantly tougher race last time and should be capable of a better performance at this less demanding level; a reproduction of his penultimate effort should ensure that he makes a bold bid here.
15:10- Billy Cuckoo didn't win the strongest of contests at Wetherby on Saturday, but, unlike many of today's rivals, at least he enters this race in good heart and at the top of his game. He has less questions to answer than the others and, with two places on offer at the time of writing, we will make him our sole selection in the concluding leg.

13:10- 9, 10
