Midfielder Ryad Boudebouz has netted 25 goals in his six years at Sochaux
Lyon are odds-on for their trip to Sochaux in Ligue One this afternoon but with just one away victory to their name this season, Paul Robinson thinks they are worth opposing.
Sochaux have made a poor start to their campaign; down in 18th place with 10 points from 11 fixtures, however a win today could see them go as high as 14th. ric Hly's side will have renewed confidence after a victory over Evian TG on Wednesday and the two goals scored will be a welcome bonus to a team who had netted just five in 10 to that point.
After a blistering finish to last season that saw them win five out of six at home, Sochaux began this one with back to back defeats. Since then however, they have won two of their last three at Stade Auguste Bonal, with the solitary blip coming against an in form Rennes.
Lyon are in decent shape and seven points from nine has moved them up to fifth with games in hand over most of their rivals. Rmi Garde's charges have no problem with getting the job done at home, five wins out of six at Stade de Gerland, but it's a different story away.
Les Gones have drawn their last three on the road, which included a trip to an out of sorts Lorient and relegation threatened Evian TG. All three were 1-1 draws and in the wider picture, they've won just five of their last 20 league games away from Lyon.
A cursory glance at the table would make you think Lyon were a tempting price here at around the 1.9720/21 mark. A closer inspection however tells us that they've struggled on their travels for some time now and that Sochaux have been performing well at home for the most part. That's why, at the prices, I have to make Lyon my lay of the day.
