Against All Odds: Carlisle to dig deep at Preston

Carlisle shouldn't be written off tonight

Preston take on Carlisle on the back of just one win in their last five so Paul Robinson thinks they are definitely worth opposing at odds-on.

Preston are ninth in League One after picking up 22 points from 15 fixtures so far. After a promising start which saw them win five of their opening 10 games, it's now just one victory in five, and that came against relegation threatened, Scunthorpe.

Graham Westley's side have struggled for wins on their own patch this year; three from seven attempts in the league, and if you look even further back to last season, The Lillywhites have been victorious on only four occasions in their last 15 in front of the Deepdale faithful.

Carlisle narrowly missed out on the Play Offs last term, finishing in eighth place. They haven't quite shown that form this time around however and they find themselves in 14th position with 19 points from a possible 45.

The problem for Greg Abbott's men has been in defence as they have the joint worst defensive record in the division with 27 conceded. It is worth noting though that two thirds of those goals have been conceded at home, and while they are yet to keep a clean sheet away, they have kept the opposition down to one or two goals.

Their form on the road is actually quite impressive; 10 points from a possible 15 in their last five, and the only loss came to an in form, Colchester.

Preston are currently trading at around the 1.9620/21 mark and, on balance, that's just too short for me and I have to make them my lay of the day.
