Will Gordon have a winner at Laytown?
Gordon has two entries at Laytown this afternoon and if his runner in the finale can reproduce his best flat form, he would have strong claims. Get Gordon's exclusive comments here.
19:10 - Dumbarton
His first couple of runs for us have been over hurdles and he has shown plenty of promise, though he fell at Down Royal a fortnight ago. He's none the worse for that and we're looking forward to trying him out on the flat here.
He works very well at home and he's certainly not short of speed so the seven-furlong trip is of no concern. He won over a mile at Windsor when trained by Michael Stoute and he seems to be in great form so we're expecting a good run from him. Nina Carberry will ride him and we think he should go close.
18:10 - Silverlord (RESERVE)
He's only a reserve and would be very lucky to get into the race but we be delighted if he did. He would really appreciate this surface and he has been going well at home recently. His most recent runs, over hurdles, have been disappointing but he had good form on the flat at Dundalk earlier in the year. If he gets in, we'd expect a good run from him.
