This looks like a case of the perfect game at the perfect time for Hull, who saw their momentum checked away to Stoke at the weekend, having previously put distance between themselves and the relegation zone by taking seven points from an available nine earlier in February.

The Tigers still have to face seven of the top eight, making it essential that they maximise these opportunities. Helpfully, they have won four out of four against Sunderland under motivated ex-Black Cats boss Steve Bruce - two at each venue - bossing the head-to-head by a 9-1 aggregate margin.

Sunderland haven't beaten a bottom-eight rival all season, whereas delivering in the six-pointers is proving a speciality for Hull, as evidenced by a P6 W4 D1 L1 record at home to sides 12th or lower.

Results at the KC Stadium had been unacceptable for the majority of the campaign, but Bruce's men appear to be getting it right at an opportune time, winning two in a row as hosts and three in four compared to one in 11 prior to that.

The visitors enter the fixture fresh from five matches without a win and four without a goal in all competitions.

Crystal Palace arrive on the south coast fresh from victory away to a team who spent the first half of 2014/15 mocking their negative pre-season press yet haven't performed anywhere near as well recently in West Ham. Now, it's time for more of the same at Southampton.

Returning to St Mary's, where he worked as manager between 2009 and 2010, was one of the most miserable parts of Alan Pardew's stint as Newcastle boss as he was subjected to successive defeats. However, his 3-2 FA Cup fourth-round triumph there with Palace transformed both of these clubs.

For Southampton, it marked the start of their slump: they haven't won at home or even scored in three games since, losing to Swansea and Liverpool and being held by a West Ham side who finished that clash with nine men owing to Adrian's sending off and Andy Carroll's latest injury.

For the Eagles, it proved that their wins at Dover and Burnley in Pardew's first two road trips in charge were no flukes and they have now showcase a perfect five-from-five record on their travels under their former midfielder, with Leicester and West Ham the freshest victims.

Ronald Koeman's hosts have scored just one goal and collected a mere four points from their past five Premier League matches, so don't squander to chance to oppose them at odds-on.
