Could Theo Walcott be Anfield bound this summer?
A Theo Walcott to Liverpool on a free transfer story? That seems at least enough for me to raise an eyebrow.
Liverpool will make a move to sign Theo Walcott on a Bosman free transfer from Arsenal if Raheem Sterling rejects a new contract.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to keep 20-year-old England international winger Sterling at Anfield, but with his current contract due to expire in summer 2017 and no sign of an extension being penned, the Northern Irishman is making contingency plans.
The Daily Star is reporting that the Merseysiders will pounce for 26-year-old Walcott in the summer if he fails to agree fresh terms with the Gunners and the fact he will be available for nothing means the club could match his 100,000-a-week wage demands.
The situation will become clearer in the summer when Sterling is set to decide one way or another if he is going to pledge his long-term future to Liverpool.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Manchester City will offer around 50million for Sterling and finance the deal by offloading up to 13 players to bring over 150million into the club's coffers.
The Citizens were in trouble with Fifa for breaching Financial Fair Play Regulations last season so the sale of Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko and Bacaray Sagna should help the squad rebuilding plans in the transfer window.
Staying with the Mirror and it appears that Manchester United are sweating on the future of goalkeeper David de Gea as he is still no nearer signing a new contract at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old Spain international has alerted Real Madrid following a run of impressive performances this season and, despite being offered a mega deal worth 140,000-a-week by United, it seems his head has been turned by interest from the reigning European champions.
De Gea, who will be out of contract in summer 2016, is reported to be waiting to see if United secure a place back in the Champions League via a top-four Premier League finish this season, before he will make a decision on his future in the summer.
Finally Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will make a fresh attempt to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke in the summer with the London Evening Standard claiming he will offer the reigning Spanish champions the opportunity to re-sign Felipe Luis in part-exchange.
Luis has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge this season following his move from Atletico last summer and it is thought a return to the Vicente Calderon would suit all parties.
And his move back to Atletico would knock a chunk off the 48million release clause which was inserted into Koke's new five-year deal which he only signed 10 months ago.
