Transfer Talk: Lukaku lined up for Champions League move?

Romelu Lukaku could be playing Champions League football next season

Romelu Lukaku is certainly the biggest name being linked with a move in the media today.

Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg are ready to step up their interest in Everton's Romelu Lukaku, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Goodison Park before joining permanently for a club-record fee last summer, penning a five-year deal .

But he has struggled to find the back of the net in the Premier League this term, scoring only eight goals in 29 top-flight appearances.

The Belgium international has been more prolific in the Europa League, however, with seven goals from eight outings, and he will be the man that the Toffees look to on Thursday night against Dynamo Kiev.

The youngster has clearly caught the eye of the German side, who will need to part with 33m to take him to the Volkswagen Arena.

Wolfsburg look like qualifying for the Champions League and so may be able to lure the talented hit-man to the club.

Elsewhere, the same paper report that Liverpool defender Glen Johnson is interested in joining former England team-mate Ashley Cole at Roma.

Johnson will be out of contact at Anfield in the summer and is now able to speak to other clubs about his future.

And his agent, Jonathan Barnett, who brokered the deal to take Cole from Chelsea to the Stadio Olimpico, admits that the Italian capital might appeal.

"We've had no contact with Roma, although Roma would be a lovely place for him," he said."Ashley thinks very highly of Rome, but we've had no contact with Roma regarding Glen.

"He's obviously looking for things at the moment. He's looking at many clubs."

The Daily Mail report that Wales boss Chris Coleman has urged Gareth Bale to snub a Premier League return to stay at Real Madrid.

Bale has been coming under increasing pressure at the Bernabeu after some lacklustre displays, with sections of the crown booing the former Spurs ace.

He responded to the criticism by covering his ears when scoring twice at the weekend and Coleman is adamant that the powerful forward is good enough to stay and fight for his future in Spain, despite links to Chelsea.

"Chelsea are a huge club and have been successful as are Manchester United - but Real Madrid is Real Madrid," he said. "Gareth's good enough to win the big trophies, play on the big stage and play with the biggest club."

And finally, the Daily Star suggest that Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim wants to move to England to manager a Premier League team.

He oversaw the principality club's Champions League triumph over Arsenal and has reportedly told friends that he expects to land a top-flight job in England sooner rather than later.
