Football Bet of the Day: Vejle ill-equipped to stop the Viking invasion

In life you have to learn from your mistakes, and having wrongly tipped the outcome of a Grodig v Wolfsberger game twice this season, I shall endeavour to avoid the fixture from now on. Grodig had lost all five of their league games in 2015, but beat Wolfsberger 2-0 last night. Wolfsberger are now on my naughty list.

Bloodied but unbowed, we move on to Denmark, and a second-tier clash between Vejle and Lyngby. The hosts eased their relegation fears on Saturday with a 1-0 win at second-bottom Bronshoj, but they are still only four points above the bottom two.

Vejle's big problem this season has been their home form. The Reds have lost six of their nine league games at the Vejle Stadion, and they've scored just eight goals in front of their own fans. Against the top teams they have struggled at home - they lost 1-0 at home to leaders Viborg, 4-0 at home to fourth-placed Vendsyssel, and 2-1 at home to fifth-placed Skive. For good measure, they were smacked 4-0 at title contenders AGF just before the winter break.

Lyngby have seen their title challenge falter thanks to two narrow defeats. In their last game before the winter break they lost 1-0 at AGF, and last Thursday they went down 1-0 at home to title rivals Viborg. Despite those defeats, Jack Majgaard's men are still just three points off top spot.

There's definitely scope to have a crack at backing No in the Both Teams To Score market at 1.8810/11, given Vejle's awful scoring record at home, and the fact that these teams played out a 0-0 draw in Lyngby in August.

However, I think the visitors are overpriced at 2.466/4. Although they have lost their last two games, it's worth remembering that those defeats were against the best this division has to offer. Before that wobble, The Vikings had been on a run of nine wins in 12 games. Vejle have lost five of their last six home games, so let's back the visitors.
