We're looking for beauty and excitement in France tonight
It's been a frustrating week for Kevin Hatchard, but he thinks he's found a chunky winner in France's Ligue 2...
Angers v Le Havre
Friday March 20, 19:00
Philip Rasmussen definitely won't be on my Christmas card list this year. The Lyngby midfielder got himself sent off on the stroke of half-time with his team already 1-0 down at Vejle. To their credit, Lyngby fought back to draw 1-1, but that's no good to us. Cheers, Philip.
To France, and a Ligue 2 clash between Angers and Le Havre. Promotion-chasing Angers were kind to us last time we backed them, as they won 1-0 at Auxerre. This time we're taking a slightly different tack, and taking on an overs bet at a price that looks too big at 2.727/4.
I can understand why Over 2.5 Goals is chunky. Angers' last seven games in Ligue 2 have featured fewer than three goals, and they have only conceded seven goals at home all season.
So why should we take the bet on? Well firstly, five of Angers' last nine home games have featured at least three goals, and two of the others were only one goal shy of landing an overs bet.
Secondly, Le Havre have been involved in some goalfests of late. Six of their last seven Ligue 2 games have featured three goals or more, and four of them have contained four goals. Just a month ago, Thierry Goudet's men drew 2-2 at the leaders Troyes, who had only conceded four goals at home all season before that game.
It's also worth considering that Angers and Le Havre have the division's two hottest strikers in their ranks. Le Havre's Mickael Le Bihan tops the goalscoring charts in Ligue 2 with 15, and Angers' Jonathan Kodjia is just a goal behind on 14.
Backing Over 2.5 Goals is a leap of faith given Angers' recent games, but I hope I've laid out enough evidence for you to feel it's worth it, especially at 2.727/4.
