The Big Wednesday Multiple: Bhoys to ease to victory

Can Celtic get back to winning ways on the pitch?

It's that time of the week where Paul Robinson selects a home win, an away win, a match to go over 2.5 goals and a match to go under 2.5 goals. Here are his selections...

Bet 1: Sheffield United (HOME) @ 1.6 (6/10)

Sheffield United were amongst the favourites for promotion from League One this season but they got off to a disastrous start as they were beaten at home by Bristol City at the weekend. Nigel Clough will be desperate for his side to get back on track this evening and they have the perfect opportunity to do so in the Capital One Cup.

The Blades take on a Mansfield team who are one division below them and they also lost their opener on Saturday. Paul Cox's side finished 11th in League Two last year and they were knocked out of this competition at the first time of asking.

Bramall Lane may not be the fortress it should be, but United still win the majority of their fixtures there and they should be able to kick-start their campaign tonight.

Bet 2: Celtic (AWAY) @ 1.5 (1/2) - Live on Sky Sports 5 at 19:45 BST

Celtic get their domestic campaign underway following their off the field success in the Champions League. While they were completely outplayed by Legia Warsaw over two legs, the return to Scottish football will be a welcome relief and they should be able to get off to a winning start in the Premiership.

Ronny Deila is yet to convince as manager since the departure of Neil Lennon but The Bhoys are still a cut above their opposition and their away record last season was fantastic. They won 15 of 19 on the road - losing just once - and that includes a victory on this ground.

St Johnstone began with a win at Ross County on Sunday and the Scottish Cup winners will be hoping to push for a top three spot this term. I'm not overly convinced though as Tommy Wright's men were inconsistent last year and they failed to win in nearly 50% of their matches at McDiarmid Park.

Bet 3: Coventry v Cardiff (Over 2.5 goals) @ 1.72 (8/11) - Live on Sky Sports 1 at 19:45 BST

Coventry are still without a home but one thing that has been noticeable since their move to Northampton has been the increase in goals - both for and against. The Sky Blues were involved in another goal-fest at the weekend - albeit at Bradford - and if we look at the data from last season, we can see that their league games averaged 3.28 goals each time - the highest in the entire division.

Steven Pressley's men welcome Cardiff to Sixfields and the newly relegated club from the Premier League began their bid for promotion with a creditable 1-1 draw at Blackburn.

Ole Gunnar Solskjr's defence were a touch leaky last year and that continued into pre-season as they kept just one clean sheet in five friendlies and they've also lost the services of Steven Caulker.

Bet 4: Lanus v Belgrano (Under 2.5 goals) @ 1.5 (1/2) - Available on Betfair Live Video at 22:00 BST

Lanus will be looking to improve their performance this season after a poor second semester of the previous campaign. They floundered in the league and suffered a disappointing exit in the Copa Libertadores to Bolivar.

As far as the goals go, their matches last time averaged 2.32 goals per 90 minutes as 11 of their 19 went under 2.5. Half a dozen of those came in front of their own fans and five of them actually went under 1.5.

Belgrano were hard to beat in the Torneo Final - only five defeats - but because they won just three times, they finished down in 15th position. The problem for the 'Piratas' came in the attacking areas as they only scored 17 goals and that led to their matches averaging dead on two goals each time.
