Two of today's bets run at Sandown.
Having landed a treble on Thursday, including a winner at 5.95/1, Timeform's SmartPlays are hopeful of further success with today's three bets...
It often pays to focus on those drawn low in sprints at Sandown and the one who catches the eye is Pabusar (14:20), who will break from stall four. The five-year-old clearly comes with risks attached as he is far from consistent but he ran a promising race at York last month having dropped to a career-low mark of 95, arguably doing well to finish third as he was left poorly placed and forced to make up plenty of ground in the closing stages. It is not long since he was running well off marks in the low 100's, also finishing second in a listed race at this time last year, so the ability is there to go close in a race of this nature. It is hoped that William Buick adopts a fairly prominent position aboard Pabusar, making use of his handy draw, and if he can repeat or even build on his York effort he seems sure to put up a bold show.
Code Of Honor has not been seen to best effect on either of his outings this term, and he is well worth another chance in Sandown's 16:35. The three-year-old rapidly made up into a useful performer last year, capping his juvenile season with victory in a Doncaster nursery off a mark of 85, and he can be forgiven for looking rusty on his return at Kempton in April. Code Of Honor was fancied to go close when contesting a handicap at Haydock in May but he enjoyed no luck at all, being hampered shortly after the start and again when making headway inside the furlong, eventually being eased off and finishing second last. He remains with the potential to improve and, for all that Al Saham is a worthy adversary, it is still early days with Code Of Honor and he is taken to get back on track.
The 19:45 at Haydock looks set to develop into a battle between a pair of lightly-raced improvers, namely Semeen and Continuum, who both arrive here having won their last two outings. Continuum, a brother to Group 1 winner Passage Of Time and the irresolute Father Time, looks to boast both ability and temperament in equal measure; he never really looked like being caught when winning at Salisbury last time but he idled in front, flashing his tail, and for all that he has the potential to improve his quirks need to be kept in check. Semeen seems to be an altogether more straightforward performer and he has stepped up this season, taking handicaps at both Newbury and Leicester. The form of each race has worked out well and Semeen, who responds well to pressure, is expected to emerge on top if eyeballing Continuum in the final furlong.
