Will the FTM team get a winner at Newton Abbot today?
The Follow The Money team have reviewed the markets to come up with three selections across Ayr and Newton Abbot this afternoon...
Starting with Ayr`s opener at 14.30 we have the best backed horse of the morning in the shape of the Kevin Ryan trained Straits Of Malacca who now trades at 2.01/1 from an early 3.711/4. This one makes his second racecourse appearance this afternoon after shaping with some promise on debut. He showed good speed that day over six furlongs so the drop back to the minimum trip today looks ideal in what is probably a weak race. An entry in Redcar`s valuable listed race later in the season would suggest Straits Of Malacca may go on to better things starting with a win today.
Also at Ayr, our next mover is today`s negative where Homestretch is slightly uneasy in the 15.00 contest having being matched is low as 1.834/5 before easing out and now trading at 2.6413/8. His sole start to date resulted at a win at Windsor but that form looks nothing special with the second and third home that day being well beaten next time out. With his main rivals today possibly better treated at the weights on what they have achieved to date a lay looks the call.
To Newton Abbot for our final selection where there has been a bit of interest in Detroit Red from 5.69/2 down to 4.57/2 in their 16.45 race. Right back to form in an amateur riders race last time when running out an easy seven length winner, she faces a 12 pound rise in the weights this afternoon. That may however not be enough to stop this mare who has conditions to suit and has won off a higher mark in the past.
