Betfair Poker Ambassador Elisabeth Hille's Amazing WSOP Story

The World Series of Poker is a magical festival. Every year that the WSOP rolls into town, it leaves us with a fantastic story. The 2012 WSOP was no different. The 2012 WSOP brought us the amazing story of Elisabeth Hille who went from a relatively unknown quantity to a Betfair Ambassador in the space of one week.

Betfair Poker knew of Elisabeth Hille before the 2012 WSOP thanks to her being a regular on the site and the fact she had played in a number of the Betfair Poker LIVE events. Hille is also the girlfriend of another Betfair Poker regular, Harald Olsen. It is this love affair that has propelled Hille into the limelight.

Hille had a dream of playing in the 2012 WSOP Main Event, but like most non-professional poker players, the $10,000 buy-in was out of her reach. She was in Las Vegas to support Olsen - who had won a WSOP Experience package through Betfair Poker - but when she was not railing her better half, she was busy grinding WSOP Main Event satellites and cash games in an attempt to fulfil her poker dream.

Just as it seems Hille's quest to play in the WSOP Main Event was over, Olsen cashed in 22nd place in Event #59 for a score of $20,499 and because Olsen and Hille always split their poker profits 50/50, Hille now had enough cash to buy into "The Big Dance." And she did everyone proud.

To cut a very long story, one that spanned a full week, Hille almost went all the way in the 2012 WSOP Main Event but fell short and finished in 11th place for a cool $590,442! Hille's exit hand saw Andras Koroknai open to 605,000 from the cutoff and then call when Hille three-bet jammed for 3,465,000. Koroknai showed 7s-7c to Hille's Ah-Qh and then the board ran out 3s-3s-Jd-Kc-3c, Hille's amazing run was over.

Since that fantastic run, Hille has become somewhat of a regular on the European poker circuit. To date, she has cashes in Ireland, she reached the money at the World Poker Tour Prague Main Event and more recently she had a deep run in a €1,000 side event at the European Poker Tour Berlin festival. Hille will be returning to Las Vegas this summer to compete in a variety of WSOP events and you could win a piece of her action, or even be joining her at the felt.
