Follow The Money: Opposing an American at Newton Abbot

We begin today's bets at Newton Abbot

Today's Follow the Money movers come from the meetings at Leicester, Newton Abbot and Redcar

We start with today's lay which appears in Newton Abbot's 14:50, a 3 mile 2 furlong beginners' chase where American Spin has been easy to back moving out from 2.89/5 to a current 3.65]. Luke Dace's nine-year-old gelding achieved two wins over hurdles including a good performance at Haydock. Now a year later this is his second attempt over the larger obstacles after a respectable third two weeks ago at Fontwell. Today's contest looks very competitive and running over a longer distance there are question marks about his chances which could explain the market drift.

Now to Leicester and the 15:00, a seven furlong Handicap where Roger Charlton's 3yo gelding Pythagorean has been backed from 2.245/4 in to 1.855/6. The son of Oasis Dream was tricky to settle last season but returned to action eight days ago, after a gelding operation, to record a first win (over course and distance). With similar conditions today and the trainer boasting a 22% strike rate, the market move points to back-to-back victories.

Finally to Redcar and the 15:10, a 1m 1f Handicap where David O'Meara's 4yo gelding Ingleby Angel has been backed from 7.413/2 into 5.14/1. On his reappearance this season he could only finish a disappointing sixth but that can be excused considering his performances last season. With ability on all surfaces, today's ground should not impact on his run and the market move may result in a second success at the Teesside track.
