Roger Charlton: Trainer of Pythagorean.
Timeform assess the field for the feature on Leicester's Tuesday card...
Pythagorean has his quirks but gelded prior to return, and much improved when routing rivals in C&D handicap on last week. Thrown in under a penalty, and hard to stop if in same form now.
Majestic Moon recorded best effort at 2 yrs when winning 6f maiden at Ayr in July. Encouraging return when 1 lengths third of 10 to Capo Rosso at Warwick (7f), and possible he'll do better with blinkers now tried.
Ceelo won 6f maiden at Newbury last year for Richard Hannon, but hasn't progressed, for all he was out of his depth in valuable sales race at Newmarket last time.
Mystical Moment won maiden at Newmarket (7f, soft) in July, and made a solid start in nurseries thereafter, but has finished weakly on either side of seasonal break, and plenty to prove at present.
Pivotal Movement cost 280,000 gns as a yearling; left previous efforts behind when comfortably winning 7-runner maiden at Windsor (6f, soft) in October. Faster ground a minor worry, but looks sure to improve further.
Skytrain bettered juvenile form when winning weak 4-runner AW handicap on return, and has scored twice over 7f at Musselburgh since. Hard to knock his consistency, but vulnerable to progressive rivals now.
Testamatta recorded best effort last year when winning 7f maiden at Doncaster, and didn't have to match that when taking similar contest at Southwell on return. Should continue to run well, but this is much tougher.
Nenge Mboko got off mark at sixth attempt over 6f at Wolverhampton in November, but just a fair fifth of 9 on handicap bow on return, and ran poorly on turf in Guernsey last time.
Jubilant Queen belatedly stepped up on debut when short-head second of 10 to Bogsnog in maiden at Bath in September, but raced too freely when below form on handicap bow over 6f at Kempton last month. May do better.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Pythagorean
2. Pivotal Moment
3. Majestic Moon
Timeform Verdict: Pythagorean still gives the impression he's on the cusp temperamentally, but only needs to repeat the form of his C&D romp last week to go very close here. Pivotal Moment is easily the pick of the rest, although blinkers may eke a bit more out of Majestic Moon.
