Irish 1000 Guineas: Timeform's runner-by-runner guide

Dermot Weld's Big Break can land the Irish 1000 Guineas

Timeform assess the chances of each runner in the Irish 1000 Guineas...

Big Break looked smart at 2 yrs, following promising debut by landing a 7f Leopardstown maiden and the Group 3 Killavullan Stakes over the same C&D in impressive fashion. Open to further improvement.

Bunairgead produced her best effort yet when a length second to Viztoria in first-time blinkers in the 7f Athasi Stakes here last time. However, no reason to suspect she will reverse the placings with the latter this time.

Dubaya looked useful when landing a 1m Navan maiden on debut in October but has come up short in better company since, behind Viztoria and Bunairgead in the Athasi Stakes here last time.

Exactement has performed with credit in listed/Group 3 company subsequent to landing a 6f Kempton maiden in October but she's flying too high here.

Hanky Panky is a well-bred filly who got off the mark at fifth attempt in 1m Naas maiden recently (equipped with a first-time hood) but Joseph O'Brien prefers Snow Queen.

Harasiya achieved a useful level of form as a 2-y-o, winning first 2 starts at Leopardstown (both over 7f) and third in the Moyglare Stud Stakes here when last seen out in September. Yard also fields What Style.

Just Pretending has improved with each of her 4 starts, landing the 9-runner Derrinstown Stud 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown last time. Deserted by Joseph O'Brien here but each-way player nevertheless.

Just The Judge was successful all 3 starts at 2 yrs, including the Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket, and improved again when -length second to Sky Lantern in the 1000 Guineas there on return 3 weeks ago. Sets the standard.

Masarah is a useful filly who wasn't disgraced by any means when eighth in the 15-runner 1000 Guineas at Newmarket last time but she would be a shock winner here.

Maureen is a strong-travelling filly, a Group 3 winner at 2 yrs and successful in the Fred Darling on return at Newbury. Not beaten far when sixth in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket since and should go well here.

Mizzava stepped up on what she showed in sole start at 2 yrs when landing a 7f Limerick maiden last month, and improved again when third to Just Pretending in a Group 3 at Leopardstown last time.

Rehn's Nest showed ability in maidens/listed contest in 2012, and improved to land the Park Express Stakes over C&D in March. Put in her place upped to 1m at Naas latest and Kevin Manning prefers Bunairgead.

Snow Queen was a dual winner at 2 yrs and improved when a never-nearer 2 lengths fifth of 15 to Sky Lantern in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket latest. Joseph O'Brien's pick of 3 yard's trio here. Visor applied.

Uleavemebreathless was behind Just Pretending in the 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown last time and likely to struggle here.

Viztoria was the winner of 2 of her 3 starts as a juvenile (beat Snow Queen 7 lengths in listed event here in September) and cosily landed the 7f Athasi Stakes here on return. Yet to tackle ground this fast.

What Style bagged a 12-runner maiden at Leopardstown (7f) by -length from Snow Queen sole run at 2 yrs. Improved when runner-up in a Group 3 over same C&D on return and there could be better to come.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Big Break
2. Just The Judge
3. Viztoria

Timeform View: Just The Judge should make a bold bid to go one better than in the English equivalent of this race but the vote goes to Big Break. She looked potentially very smart last season and, with further improvement likely as a 3-y-o, she can provide Dermot Weld with his third winner of this race since 2006. Viztoria will be a live threat if handling this faster surface.
