Clon Brulee can hit the mark at Redcar.
Timeform assess the feature race on Monday's Redcar card...
Toruk Macto has won 6 of his 9 starts in Turkey at up to listed level, and holds an entry in Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot. Hard to know exactly how good he is, and market best guide on UK debut.
Eshtibaak is a lightly raced for his age, and better than ever when -length second of 9 to Sir John Hawkwood at Chester (10.5f) at Chester last time. Winner has scored since, and leading claims here.
Silver Lime landed 11f Goodwood handicap in August and took a step up when third in competitive Ascot handicap following month. Shaped as if just in need of return, and ought to go well again.
Tahaamah improved form campaigned in Dubai in 2012, winning 11f Meydan handicap. Looked to need run on return from absence at Ascot earlier this month, and one to bear in mind now.
Fort Belvedere won minor event at Longchamp (1m) in 2011, and better effort for new yard when second to Toto Skyllachy at Beverley (8.5f) last time, and will appreciate this step up in trip on that evidence.
Jo'burg goes well here, finishing creditable fifth in this race last year, and won twice over 1m later in the summer. Handicapper in charge since, however, and others look stronger now.
No Poppy is a come-from-behind handicapper who thrived last year, winning 5 times at up to 1m. Best effort this year when 8 lengths second of 5 at Doncaster (10.5f) last time, but plenty more needed now.
Gabrial The Great got back to winning ways in Haydock handicap in July, and failed to stay in Melrose at York next time. Looked awkward on final start, and gelded having joined Luca Cumani from Michael Bell since then.
Clon Brulee improved on maiden form when winning pair of 1m handicaps last summer. Further progress when an easy winner at Ripon on recent return, and a penalty underplays his superiority there. Shortlisted.
Warlu Way was not so hot last season for John Dunlop but been given a chance by handicapper. Only tenth on recent return for new yard at Pontefract, though, and could only consider if market speaks for him.
Las Verglas Star was consistent in 2012, winning over 1m at Pontefract. Best effort this year when third there last month, but less impact in 2 runs since, and others look to have his measure here.
War Poet struggled after making winning return to action at Doncaster last spring, and something to prove after a reluctant performance at York 10 days ago. One to be wary of at present.
Eltheeb won at Beverley and Hamilton in 2011 for George Moore and just as good when placed 3 times for this yard last season. Not disgraced when fifth at York on eturn, but looks high in the weights.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Clon Brulee
2. Eshtibaak
3. Silver Lime
Timeform Verdict: Clon Brulee looked to have plenty to spare when winning at Ripon 8 days ago, and he looks ahead of his mark under a penalty for that win. He gets the nod over Chester second Eshtibaak, with Silver Lime and Tahaamah also shortlisted after encouraging returns.
