Melbourne Cup: Welds travel woes

Dermot Weld will saddle Galileo's Choice in the Melbourne Cup
Dermot Weld revealed Melbourne Cup contender Galileo's Choice suffered travel sickness following a troublesome journey to Australia...
The six-year-old gelding, a winner of his last two races, had been on antibiotics since touching down in Melbourne, but his temperature is now back to normal.
Weld believes there is plenty of time for him to return to full health before the Melbourne Cup on November 6.
He told At The Races: "He didn't travel very well, unfortunately. They had a very tough flight, a very difficult landing, and a lot of problems with the facilities in quarantine when the horses landed.
"My fellow just spiked a temperature and initially had to have a few antibiotics, so that wasn't nice, but he seems to be responding rapidly. His temperature is back to normal and he's back eating, but it did take a bit out of him.
"One of the reasons I sent him down a bit in advance was to allow for him having a few travel problems. He can be a little bit claustrophobic as well and he's got the time to recover."
The master of Rosewell House has saddled two previous winners of the prestigious contest in Vintage Crop (1993) and Media Puzzle (2002).
Galileo's Choice currently trades at 23.022/1 to land the Melbourne Cup.
