Against All Odds: Volendam to continue away run in Rotterdam

Volendam could certainly put the wind up Rotterdam today

Sparta Rotterdam put their seven home game undefeated run on the line against Volendam this evening and Paul Robinson thinks the visitors could cause an upset.

Sparta Rotterdam are seventh in the table after picking up a steady 15 points from their opening eight fixtures. Last year's runners up will shoot up to second place with a win and their recent home form brings encouragement for their supporters.

Michel Vonk's men are undefeated in seven at Het Kasteel, with their record this season reading; played four, won three and drawn one. They only just squeezed past bottom club, Almere City, last time out though and it must be worrying that they've conceded five goals this year, keeping just the one clean sheet.

Volendam appear to be a much improved outfit this term under the guidance of Hans de Koning. They are up in fifth place and, like their opponents, a victory tonight would see them move into second place.

Het Andere Oranje have actually picked up more points on their travels this season; two wins and two defeats at home, compared to three wins and one defeat away. On their last trip away from Kras Stadion, they thrashed, Telstar 3-0, and they have only conceded three goals on the road so far, while scoring eight themselves.

Volendam are a different proposition under their new regime and I feel the market has undervalued them in this one. Sparta Rotterdam are too short for me at around the 1.9520/21 mark and that's why I'm making them my lay of the day.
