New Zealand Favourite for Rowing Gold (Olympic Rowing Betting)

London 2012 Olympic Rowing betting sees New Zealand  2.650* as favourites for the men’s double scull, while Ondrej Synek 2.480* and Ekaterina Karsten 3.500* top the odds for the men’s and women’s single sculls.

New Zealand are the 2.500* favourites ahead of defending champions Australia to claim gold at London 2012 in the double sculls. Rob Waddell and Nathan Cohen will compete for New Zealand as they hope to edge-out second favourites Germany 3.150*.

The pair were within one place of a bronze back in Beijing 2008, while Waddell already has an Olympic gold for his single sculls performance in 2000.

Synek Could Edge Out Drysdale

London 2012 Olympic men’s rowing single sculls betting will see the 2008 silver medal winner Ondrej Synek look to win his first Olympic gold medal. Synek is the 2.420* favourite for the gold and will hope to replicate his 2010 world championship gold medal.

His biggest competitor could be five-time world champion Mah Drysdale 3.380*. London 2012 will be Drysdale's third Olympic regatta and he will be aiming to top the bronze medal he secured in Beijing despite being ill during the week of the regatta.

Defending champion Olaf Tufte 9.050* is third favourite. The Norwegian won gold in both Athens and Beijing, as well as silver at Sydney. However, he is now 36-years-old and a win would see him become the oldest singles scull gold medallist since Henry Thomas Blackstaffe earned the prize in 1908 London.

Odds Favour Karsten For Gold

Belarus native Ekaterina Karsten as the 2.710* favourite for the gold. Karsten is a two-time Olympic champion and six times world champion, winning in Atlanta, and Sydney.

The current world champion Miroslava Knapkova 4.050* is the second favourite, finishing fifth in Beijing at a massive 13 seconds behind winner Rumyana Neykova. The Czech champ is slightly more favoured than New Zealander Emma Twigg 4.730*.
