The Yorkshire Cup is the highlight on Friday.
Timeform analyse the field for the feature on Friday at York, the Yorkshire Cup...
Joshua Tree has been a smart and versatile international performer for various stables, and efforts last year suggest he's as good as ever, winning Grade 1 Canadian International. Player on debut for new yard.
Royal Diamond has looked much improved since joining this yard, winning a handicap off a mark of 80 before winning the Group 1 Irish St Leger. Respectable efforts at Meydan both starts this year and respected.
A Boy Named Suzi won twice on AW in 2012 and placed on all 5 starts for James Eustace last term, showing steadily progressive form. Creditable third on return/debut for new yard but up in class/trip now. Visored.
Cavalryman won listed event over C&D last year. Looked as good as ever when winning Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan last time and sets the standard.
Glen's Diamond won 2 of 3 starts in 2011, including Dee Stakes at Chester. Further progress when excellent second to Red Cadeaux in this event last year but went off the boil after. Bit to find on balance.
Guarantee looked a highly progressive colt last summer, impressing when coming from well off the pace to land competitive handicap at York. Not disgraced in St Leger but looked none too keen on return.
Sir Graham Wade developed into smart stayer in second half of 2012, winning Old Borough and Mallard handicaps before landing listed event in France. Good third in Group 3 at Ascot last time and considered.
Top Trip is a smart performer in France, winning Group 2 last year before fifth in French Derby. Made a respectable return and will stay this far, so one to take seriously.
Quiz Mistress improved for this yard last year, winning handicaps at Windsor and Salisbury before landing listed race in France. Just failed when excellent second in Group 3 at Newbury on return. Respected.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Top Trip
2. Cavalryman
3. Sir Graham Wade
Timeform Verdict: Cavalryman sets the standard but there's better value to be had with Top Trip, who has shown plenty of smart form in France and will stay this far. Sir Graham Wade is another to consider.
