Wells Fargo Championship Tips: The best speciality bets

Henrik Stenson looks back to his best

Paul Krishnamurty recommends a series of bets and trades across a range of Betfair's speciality markets for this week's big PGA Tour event at Quail Hollow...

Back to lays

Back Henrik Stenson 4u @ 48.047/1
Place order to lay 15u @ 10.09/1

Whilst previous course form is a reliable guide in most cases, Stenson is the exception. The fact there is absolutely nothing in three previous attempts here to recommend him means very little, because his game was in crisis. That is certainly not the case now and this former Sawgrass and World Matchplay champion looks a winner waiting to happen. Stenson is top-rated on this year's PGA Tour for the most important statistical measure regarding a player's wellbeing - greens in regulation. His power off the tee should be a crucial asset at Quail Hollow, just as it was at another bombers' paradise, Redstone, where he finished second last month.

The trading plan here is to stake four units at 48.047/1, then place a lay order for 15 units at 10.09/1, therefore making a minimum of 11 units profit if he shortens to that target.

Back Robert Garrigus 2.5u @ 75.074/1
Back Padraig Harrington 2.5u @ 85.084/1
Place order to lay both players 15u @ 10.09/1

A similar line of thinking applies to these two selections. Both Garrigus and Harrington tend to thrive when they've got plenty of room off the tee, yet because they struggle to put consistent numbers together on courses that penalise inaccuracy, are available at very attractive trading odds. Harrington has made the top-nine in the last two renewals and was in decent form before the Masters, registering top-tens in the Malaysian and Texas Opens. Garrigus has three top-16 finishes here to his name, including the last two years. He is also my each-way selection.

In this case lets try a joint trade, staking five units on the pair at combined odds around 38.037/1, then place a lay order for 15 units at 10.09/1. If either man hits the target, we'll triple our money.

Tournament matchbet

Back Nicolas Colsaerts to beat Martin Kaymer 8u @ 1.758/11

The most attractive match betting option involves two of Europe's Ryder Cup heroes. Apart from holing that famous winning putt and a short run at the end of last year, Kaymer's game has been in trouble for a long time now. There is absolutely nothing in his recent PGA Tour numbers, which include a best finish of just 35th, to recommend him. Colsaerts hasn't made the impact in the States many of us expected but Sunday's eighth in New Orleans was a significant step forward. This massive hitter should love Quail Hollow too and is fanced to make a respectable course debut. Take anything down to 1.758/11 about the Belgian.

Top-ten finish

Back Robert Garrigus 4u @ 7.06/1
Back Jason Kokrak 1u @ 23.022/1

Finally, yet more focus on driving distance as the top-ten always includes a few bombers. The case for Garrigus are laid out above and for Kokrak in my Find Me a 100 Winner column.
