Richard Fahey trains our first SmartPlay, La Luz Del Sol

Timeform select three unexposed handicappers for you to back on Monday...

La Luz Del Sol hails from the in-form Richard Fahey yard and she can continue her trainer's excellent start to the season by landing the 16:50 at Musselburgh. Having shown some promise on the all-weather, La Luz Del Sol showed much improved form switched to the turf at Catterick, finding plenty under pressure to ultimately win a shade cosily. Still lightly raced, La Luz Del Sol remains open to plenty of progress and, although she may need further in time to show her true potential, she sets a decent standard here and ought to prove tough to beat.

We turn our attention to the action at Windsor this evening, starting with the 19:50. Plenum didn't enjoy much success in maidens, finishing unplaced in three starts, but he did show a bit of promise, particularly on his last start at Lingfield where he made eyecatching late progress, and it would rank as little surprise were he to show marked improvement now entering handicap company. Plenum was given three starts in quick succession to qualify for a mark and is of obvious interest on his return from a break, particularly with able trainer David Lanigan starting to hit form.

For our final SmartPlay, we choose another handicap debutant from the David Lanigan stable in the shape of Plutocracy. Once again, though, we are relying on potential as opposed to proven form in the book as he made little impression in three starts over inadequate trips as a two-year-old. However, this does mean that he starts life in handicap company on a mark that could underestimate his ability and, given his pedigree, today's marked step up in trip could lead to plenty of improvement. This looks like a fairly competitive race and plenty could have a few pound in hand of the handicapper, but Plutocracy looks especially unexposed, has a nice profile and should relish this type of test.
