Willie Mullins has some good chances at Punchestown today
Timeform's Irish team focus on the action at Punchestown and provide you with three bets...
Our first bet comes in the opening contest as we believe that City Slicker can put his hurdling experience to good use and defeat his rivals. A winner of a bumper, City Slicker has hit the frame on all three starts over hurdles and should prove a tough nut to crack for the powerful combination of Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullins.
Our next bet comes in the following race as we take a chance on the Noel Meade-trained Benemeade improving for the step up in trip. Benemeade improved with each run in bumpers, getting off the mark in that sphere at Downpatrick, and there was plenty to like about his initial effort over hurdles, finishing second over two miles at Fairyhouse. He steps up to three miles here so stamina is the obvious unknown, but he could well appreciate the extra distance and should take plenty of beating.
The Willie Mullins-trained Toostrong appeared to relish the sounder surface at Gowran Park last time and looks well treated as he steps into handicap company for the first time in the 15:45. Toostrong jumped well in the main at Gowran, leading two out and keeping on well in the closing stages. He looks to have been found a good opportunity here and can win again.
