RPGTV: Best bets at Romford and Monmore

Join today

"Romford’s highlight on Friday is a 400m final (21:24) where the combination of a return to his favoured red jacket (three from four in trap one over 400m), coupled with a middle favouring rival on his immediate outside, makes Garryglass Rodge the most likely recipient with Mark Wallis’ charge earning a confident selection"

A final apiece at Romford and Monmore plus the heats of two other competitions at the Wolverhampton circuit headline the Racing Post Greyhound TV action tonight and tomorrow. Darrell Williams, fresh from tipping five winners on Sky's Hove card, searches out the best bets.

Fridays Daryl, a Laurels finalist last season, looks the one to beat in the 480m final at Monmore tonight (21:32) despite the loss of the striped jacket for Julie Bateson's charge. His liking for this course and distance (three from six) coupled with obvious lead ability claims after a spell sprinting makes him the one to be with despite what on paper appears a competitive contest.

Jazz Tilly, who came very close to winning the 'Three Steps' final at Sheffield last week, can gain quick compensation in heat two of a 630m contest (20:26). The presence of useful Bansha Mo on her inside won't make things easy, but Mark Wallis bitch, runner-up in a similar contest here in March, has a real liking for this discipline (three from four over CD) and rates the most likely winner.

The other heat (19:54) looks far more open and a lay of Mays Millhouse, far from ideally drawn out in trap four, might provide the best option.

The return of veteran Blue Artisan to the racecard has been very welcome and the 2010 Gymcrack winner can make it three from three since his comeback by overcoming a wider than ideal draw in his heat of the Stud Book Trophy (20:42). Harry Williams' soon to be five year old has been beaten only twice in seven efforts over Monmore's 480m trip and will be a popular choice to go in again.

Klockwork Korker goes into the first heat (20:10) in good heart after a wide margin win over the CD a fortnight ago and with Trisul Baoli on his inside likely to gift him plenty of racing room looks the one to be with.

Romford's highlight on Friday is a 400m final (21:24) where the combination of a return to his favoured red jacket (three from four in trap one over 400m), coupled with a middle favouring rival on his immediate outside, makes Garryglass Rodge the most likely recipient with Mark Wallis' charge earning a confident selection.

All eyes will be on Droopys Move after her sensation off the pace 3506 last week, which should make Ernie Gaskin's bitch the absolute good thing of the night (22:26) while the possibility of a clear run is likely to have the clock-watchers drooling!

Billymatt (20:18) after defeat at Hove the other night should resume winning ways back at his favoured Romford (four wins in his last five over the trip) despite the presence of Monleek Town on his outside.

Selina May has the early pace to quickly take charge in the maiden for David Mullins (21:06), while Mandeville Rose's early speed should be enough to soon put her charge in the maiden marathon (21:56) especially with railer Stunning Rusty on her immediate left.

Rails specialist Head Iton Tom ran well from an unfavourable trap five berth last week but is a different proposition from red (three wins in his last six from trap one over CD) and can take the stayers heat (22:11) while Aayamzabella (ex Mallogs Holly)is likely to prove too classy in the marathon (22:40). Droopys Field, from a decent litter that includes Droopys Odell and Aines Marx, can take the maiden stayers event (21:40).
