Follow The Money: Betfair customers rushing to back a Russian at Chester

Can Russian Realm win at Chester?

Today's Follow The Money comes from Chester and Southwell.

We start with the opener at Southwell, a one mile handicap, in which Kingscombe has come in to 5.14/1 from 11.5n/a. This four-year-old arrives out of form, having finished down the field in a couple of Kempton handicaps last month. However, Betfair customers believe that the accompanying falling handicap mark, combined with a return to the secen of his maiden win and a drop in trip can signal a return to form.

Next we head to Chester for their 15:50 maiden which has seen Russian Realm supported from 4.1n/a in to 2.789/5. This promising and well-bred 3yo makes his reappearance today. An eye-catching third on his sole start last term, this step up in trip will suit and the money suggests he has progressed at home over the winter. He can defy a wide draw and take this before going on to better things.

Lastly we go back to Southwell for their finale, the middle distance handicap at 17:10, where Bellarte has been weak in the market. Earlier available at 2.747/4, this one is now 3.814/5. Still a maiden, she has shown modest form thus far. Connections are today trying a switch to fibresand, step up in trip and the addition of headgear in a bid to work the oracle. There look to be too many question marks and at the prices the selection looks one to take on.
