Germany's Jyhan Artut will face USA today
Wayne Mardle uses his experience to take a look across Day Two of the Betfair World Cup of Darts, and he's not expecting much in the way of shock results today.
A bit of a difficult opening day yesterday for my tips. Although Belgium beat Hungary easily as predicted (emerging 5-0 winners), Denmark managed to edge out South Africa 5-4 in what was a real surprise to me. The odds said that match would be close, and in the end they were proved right. It certainly doesn't get much closer than 5-4.
The Poles also turned Gibraltar over in what was a great result for Krzysztof Kciuk and Krzysztof Ratajski.
This afternoon is all about the seeded teams facing the nations that were beat in the opening round of matches, so for the most part it really should be plain sailing for the big guns today. Australia face New Zealand and should overcome them fairly easily, and the Dutch should find that Gibraltar pose no problems to them. Expect two 5-0 scorelines there.
The Scots played superbly in their win over Canada and I think they will beat Sweden, but not as easily as you might think. I think this could be a 5-2 or perhaps a 5-3, and Scotland are currently 1.152/13 to emerge victorious. The Swedes had a 90 average when losing to Canada though and that could trouble the Scottish pair.
The last game of the afternoon session is, for me, the most exciting as hosts Germany face USA. Germany were let off the hook last night against Finland and I can't see the American pairing of Darin Young and Larry Butler being so generous. The Americans are outsiders in this game, currently priced at 1.9110/11 and that might just be worth a back.
Recommended Bet
USA to beat Germany @ 1.9110/11
