Is Venetia Williams on course for a victory at Leicester today?
Today's Follow the Money movers come from Lingfield, Leicester and Catterick...
We start at Lingfield and in the 14:10 where Haverstock has been backed from 7.7n/a in to 4.77/2. The Mark Johnston-trained three-year-old doesn't have great form figures, but showed promise in maidens last year and had been running over trips of 6f and 7f which perhaps doesn't suit him. He races over 1m2f today and his pedigree (his sire is New Approach) suggests he should enjoy the longer trip. This race is also a drop in class and the market support suggests he will be too good for his rivals today.
Next we move to Leicester and in the 16:00 where Howards Legacy has been well supported this morning from 3.02/1 in to 2.447/5. A winner on his chase debut at Ffos Las in November, he also finished runner-up last month at Wincanton. He was second to Opening Batsman that day and the form has been given a boost as he won a Grade 3 chase at Kempton over the weekend. Trainer Venetia Williams has a 23% strike rate at this track and the stable have won this race three times in the last ten seasons, the market support suggests they win it again today.
Our final selection is from Catterick and in the 16:50 where No Way Hozay is weak in the market and has drifted out to 2.8815/8 from 2.47/5. This 7yo joined trainer John Wade last year and the switch to fences has brought an improvement with wins in three of his five chase starts. He completed a hat-trick of wins last week - two coming at Catterick but he has gone up 16lbs after his last victory there. His last race was only five days ago, however, and punters are hoping that will be enough to stop him completing a four-timer.
