GSOP Event #2: Three final table appearances
The second event of the Grand Series Of Poker (GSOP) took place last night, the first of the rebuy tournaments. The main GSOP event was a $54 buy-in tournament with a $100,000 guarantee and the mini-version a $5.50 with a $12,500 guarantee.
GSOP Event #2: $54 No Limit Hold'em Rebuys ($100,000 guaranteed)
Unlike at the previous GSOP where I played all the rebuys with a single bullet, I have chosen to not play any of the rebuy events of the main GSOP this time around. However, many of my fellow Team Betfair players were among the 864 players who helped push the prize pool to an eye-popping $110,150.
By the time registration had closed there were 183 players representing Betfair Poker, another fantastic turnout by our boys and girls. Amongst them were some superb poker players including, but not limited to, pillow100, Doobs, Mongy_x, Main Event Travel pro Rhys "floppinhel11" Jones, Chris "NigDawG" Brammer, and George "gb2loose" Bedi. This was just a selection of players who did not make it into a money, which goes to show how strong the field actually was.
The $110,150 prize pool was shared out between the top 120 players and thankfully it was not a Team Betfair player who burst the bubble, though E_V_V_O did bust out in 120th which is as near as you can get to bursting the bubble without actually doing it! Others who made it into the money include World Series of Poker bracelet winner Craig "JAKE CODY" McCorkell and fergie28.
A special mention has to go to EvanGeLos90, Ctoft1985 and hjalte67 who all managed to get down to the final two tables. However, they were not the best placed Team Betfair players as we had two faces at the final table. Elliot "EdSheeranFTW" Panyi almost went all the way before being eliminated in fourth place, good for $6,883.15, but even he was outlasted by actionjambo who fell one place later in third spot for $9,292.26; ever so close to a five figure score. Well done ladies and gentlemen, well done indeed.

Team Betfair entrants: 183 (21.18%)
Team Betfair cashes: 29 (15.85% ITM)
Team Betfair prize money: $24,962.28 (22.66% of $110,150 prize pool)
Mini-GSOP Event #2: $5.50 No Limit Hold'em Rebuys ($12,500 guaranteed)
Although a $54 rebuy was outside the constraints of my bankroll, the $5.50 version was well within it so I bought in, re-bought straight away and got down to business. Well that last statement is true if by business you mean folding complete trash until the 150/300/30a level because I did that like a boss.
The only real hand of note saw the action fold to me in the hijack and I moved all-in for my 2,040 stack whilst holding Ah-10s. SupaLukLuk was next to act and he opted to call with what turned out to be 8c-8s but he lost the flip when the board ran out 5c-Ks-As-Jc-2h.
That double up got me through to the add-on period - I bought the add-on - but my tournament was over just six hands after the restart. My final hand saw rapetsi open to 1,250 at 250/500/50a (from the hijack) and I decided to take the flip for my 4,780 chips from the big blind. Only it was not a flip because my pocket fours were being crushed by rapetsi's much higher pocket tens. All the best players finish in 772nd place anyway I have heard.
Thankfully, my fellow Team Betfair players made up for my donkish ways and from the 169 players who entered, 27 made it through into the money places. Among the winners were margo1988 of Russia who busted in 20th place for $107.47 whilst German buhala1987 bubbled the final table by finishing in 11th for $171.66. We did have a solitary player on the final table, Emanrov777's tournament ending in 10th place for $213.49. Once again it was another great turnout by Team Betfair and another set of outstanding results; you should all be proud.
