14:00 - The withdrawal of Mutual Regard has changed the complexion of this apprentice handicap in more ways than one, the field now without a hot favourite and Placepot punters with three spots, rather than four, to aim at. Nevertheless, our approach is much the same as it would have been, the only difference being we're banking on Langham Lily instead of the erstwhile market leader. Langham Lily showed vast improvement on her handicap debut last time, just touched off by another unexposed handicapper who has since won again, and there's no reason to think a 6 lb rise in the weights will prevent her from making the first three again.

14:30 - Time for another banker despite a fairly large field. With Countryman having the best form on offer, scope to improve and experience on the surface, there's no reason to take anything else, especially considering nothing has anything like as attractive a profile for our purposes.

15:00 - Yet another standout in form terms in this maiden, though we're not banking on Nenge Mboko due to a lack of experience on polytrack (best efforts so far on testing ground) and the fact he already has one significant blot on his copybook, admittedly in the much hotter environment of Glorious Goodwood. Nelina is the best backup option, her debut at Wolverhampton containing a good deal of promise and her pedigree pointing firmly towards improvement at this trip and beyond.

15:30 - Probably the most competitive maiden of the lot here, but Ormindo offers Placepot punters a solid starting point. He's by no means one of Godolphin's best juveniles, but he has plenty of experience on the surface and has given his running on each of his last three starts. This sharp mile should prove right up his street, too. Second in is Audacia, who showed plenty under considerate handling on her recent debut at Nottingham and is more than likely to make the frame here if she's learned from that.

16:00 - Quite a competitive seller in relative terms, with a couple of fairly reliable sorts in First Bid and Boudoir likely to see us through. First Bid is one of few confirmed front-runners in the field and has winning C&D form this year at a higher level. Boudoir also won a handicap over C&D in May of this year, while her third-placed finish over six furlongs a few starts back ranks as decent form.

16:30 - There looks to be plenty of pace on in the final leg, so we'll select a couple of closers who can hopefully see us home should we get this far. Ginger Ted took well to polytrack on his debut at Wolverhampton last Friday and didn't come in for an unduly hard race, that potentially an important factor turned out just four days on. In off a career-low mark, Beat The Bell returns to handicaps following a spell in plating company, which yielded several placings but no wins. His recent tendency to be sluggish at the start shouldn't do him too much harm around here.
