The ninth edition of the popular Grand Series Of Poker (GSOP) kicked off in spectacular style last night with the first event, the $400,000 Guaranteed No Limit Hold'em event. The $190+$10 buy-in tournament attracted 1,959 players who were all bested by "artsi88," the first champion of GSOP IX.

Event #1 started at 19:00 GMT and finished just moments ago 13 hours and 10 minutes later, meaning it was a marathon session for those players fortunate enough to go deep. Although obviously tired, "artsi88" will be over the moon after walking away with the $59,337.91 winner's prize and a seat to the $5,000 Grand Slam.
