Timeform Radio Tips: Tuesday February 5

David Cleary has two bets lined up for today.

David Cleary is in action at Market Rasen on Tuesday, where he suggests two bets...

Sedgefield may be off due to snow but there's still plenty of interest at the two remaining cards. With the return of Southwell and racing on fibresand after problems with flooding is the highlight of the day for all-weather fans, while for those who prefer jumping Market Rasen offers a competitive card with several potential bets. Let's stick to Market Rasen.

Five are set to go to post for the novice chase at 14:30. Two of the quintet, Volcan Surprise and Countess Comet, are hard to make a case for on their chasing debut. That leaves Megastar, Avoca Promise and another chasing debutant Gallox Bridge. Megastar has the most ability of the trio and has been in good heart on the all-weather, both in a jumpers bumper and a Flat maiden. However, he's been far from convincing as a chaser so far and doesn't yet look to have the jumping technique to be confident in his chance this afternoon. Avoca Promise wasn't that likeable or especially good over hurdles and although he appeared to show a much higher level of form when a 33/1-chance on his chasing debut at Newbury, that form isn't solid - the race was steadily run and several of the other runners weren't seen at their best. That leaves Gallox Bridge. With better form than Avoca Promise over hurdles, he has the physique and demeanour to make a chaser. Conditions should be ideal for him, so Gallox Bridge looks the bet.

The two handicaps on the card both feature Jonjo O'Neill-trained runners at the head of the market, and although the novice handicap hurdle at 15:00 is competitive on the face of it, with plenty making their handicap debut, his Beckhani has a lot going for it. Beckhani was useful in bumpers when with Charlie Brooks and has shaped well on both starts over hurdles, the novice he was third in at Exeter last time beginning to work out well. Beckhani is qualified to run in handicaps after just two runs as he's reached the frame on both his hurdling starts, a relatively recent change in the rules which his trainer has exploited to advantage in the past. Beckhani looks to have been given a fair mark on his form to date and with more surely to come over today's longer trip, he will be hard to beat.

Recommended Bets:
Both at Market Rasen
Back Gallox Bridge @ 4.03/1 in the 14:30
Back Beckhani @ 4.3100/30 in the 15:00
