Paul Nicholls: Trainer of Sametegal.
Timeform analyse the Scottish Triumph Hurdle Trial at Musselburgh on Sunday...
Kashmir Peak was a fair winner at up to 1m on Flat for Ger Lyons who has made perfect start to hurdling career, winning at Market Rasen before getting better of Sametegal in Grade 2 at Doncaster. Big player.
Sametegal won at Enghien in April and made successful start for new yard in listed event at Wetherby in November. Bettered that when second to Kashmir Peak since and may get his revenge here on revised terms.
Tidal Way improved with cheekpieces fitted, winning juvenile hurdles at Bangor and Ludlow (second and third since both won) and ran well when third in handicap at latter track since. This is tougher, though.
Docs Legacy was fairly useful on Flat up to 1m. Has made promising start to hurdling career in recent months and showed his wellbeing when taking jumpers' bumper at Wolverhampton last week.
Lone Foot Laddie was a modest maiden on Flat (stays 1m) for Sylvester Kirk who hasn't shown much in pair of C&D events this winter, so makes no appeal.
Titus Bolt was a modest handicapper on the Flat for Jim Boyle, winning over 1m at Windsor in July. Showed some aptitude for hurdling when third at Ayr last month and may do better in due course.
Wayne Manor was fair on Flat for Ralph Beckett, successful in 2m handicap at Kempton in August. Well below form when last seen in October and sold for 24,000 gns in the interim. Makes his hurdling debut here.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Sametegal
2. Kashmir Peak
3. Docs Legacy
Timeform Verdict: Kashmir Peak and Sametegal met in a Grade 2 at Doncaster in December and the latter is fancied to reverse the length beating he received there on 3 lb better terms. Docs Legacy looks best of the rest.
