Gary Crispe brings you three bets
Gary Crispe has looked at Hobart's card and found you three bets...
While Sunday's Hobart Cup looks a wide open affair, the $100,000 Listed Thomas Lyons Stakes (1400m) which follows is much easier to read.
Under The Eiffel has proven costly for his followers in Melbourne so far this campaign, but looks ideally suited on Sunday at weight-for-age level. The Tony Vasil-trained runner faces the easiest assignment he has encountered for some time and looks poised to strike off of a strong run in the Listed John Dillon Stakes (1400m).
The six-year-old's last effort at Caulfield was awarded a Timeform figure of 112, seven pounds clear of the best 50 day Timeform figures posted by his nearest rivals. Drawn beautifully with barrier 2, Under The Eiffel should get all of the favours in transit before kicking away for a long overdue victory.
Beautiful Buns caught the eye last start when flashing home into third at Launceston over 1000m. The mare missed the start but if she breaks with them on Sunday afternoon, expect the five-year-old to take some beating. The Adam Trinder mare appears well suited in the Class 4 Handicap (1100m) and should be able to get the job done against just six rivals.
Miss Middleton looks to be a mare with upside and can live up to that expectation in the Betfair Class 1 Handicap (1200m). The Barry Campbell-trained mare broke maiden status on resuming at Launceston in encouraging fashion and with added fitness second up, can kick off her latest campaign with consecutive wins.
