Premier League on Betfair: Cazorla saves Arsenal's blushes

Not amused - they won, but Wenger went through the mill again

Arsenal were five minutes from dropping more points at home in the Premier League only to be saved by Santi Cazorla today. Elsewhere, United took an even firmer grip on the title and Norwich were backed at 130.0129/1 as the Canaries shocked Everton...

Arsenal came very close to another disastrous afternoon at the Emirates but were saved from a calamitous draw at the hands of Aston Villa by a late Santi Cazorla winner. The Spaniard had fired the home side into an early lead with a goal on six minutes but Arsenal were unable to press home that advantage and saw Andreas Weimann crash home to shock the agonised home fans.

Both teams attacked in a frantic finish, but it was the Gunners who had the final say. They were backed at 3.45n/a in-play, while the draw touched 1.558/15.

The win keeps Arsenal in the top-four hunt ahead of Chelsea's trip to Manchester City on Sunday and Spurs' visit to West Ham on Monday night.

Seemingly out of the battle for the Champions League places are Everton, who were beaten by a last minute Grant Holt goal at Carrow Road. It was a strike that clobbered the in-play punters prepared to take short prices about the draw with the stalemate trading at 1.011/100. Canaries' backers, however, saw in-running prices matched as high as 130.0129/1 on Chris Hughton's men winning.

There was no surprise at the top of the table where Manchester United won their fourth on the trot, scoring twice without reply to hand QPR another defeat at Loftus Road. United are now just 1.041/25 to win the title, while Rangers are looking like relegation certainties and can be backed at 1.192/11 to go down.

Reading are a little longer in the market but similarly troubled. Brian McDermott's men were beaten 3-0 by Wigan and can now be backed at 1.384/11 to go down. Wigan are a little over evens.

Sunderland are not quite out of the relegation mire after losing at West Bromwich Albion, while Fulham eased clear of any trouble with a 1-0 defeat of Stoke courtesy of a sumptuous Dimitar Berbatov goal.
