Venetia Williams has her yard in fine form
Musselburgh stage a fascinating Sunday card and Tony McFadden attempts to win the Placepot...
13:00- Overturn is the obvious choice in the opening leg having made a more than satisfactory switch to chasing. However, he is sure to be carrying plenty of lines and Tetlami also has lots of potential, so we will include both horses in our Placepot.
13:30- The smart chaser Aerial is likely to popular after finishing runner-up to Coneygree in December, but he faces a couple of interesting rivals who may well be capable of improving past the standard set by Paul Nicholls' runner. Superior Quality is the first horse we turn to. A bumper winner in Ireland, Superior Quality created a very favourable impression on his hurdling debut for Charlie Longsdon, staying on well and looking like a step up to three miles will see further improvement. Witness In Court is another horse that looks like a good prospect granted a test of stamina and he also makes the perm.
14:00- A tricky little contest with only the four involved. Tap Night has the strongest credentials based on his beating of Captain Conan last year and a promising chasing debut at Ayr, though we will not risk banking on him given the good impression created by Viva Colonia on his first start for the Brian Ellison yard. Viva Colonia may not be a chaser on looks but he had few problems over the larger obstacles when scooting to success over C&D and he is the second string to our bow.
14:30- Kashmir Peak has made the perfect start to his hurdling career, winning on both of his starts, and he looks set to make a bold bid in search of the hat-trick of wins. A test of speed should materialise here and Kashmir Peak looks ideally suited to handle it.
15:00- Useful as a hurdler, Ciceron has not quite reached that level yet over fences, but he has shaped well in finishing runner-up on his latest three starts and looks likely to go well again for the Venetia Williams yard that continues to fire in the winners.
15:30- Also hailing from the Venetia Williams yard, Brick Red has to contend with a 12 lb rise in the weights, but the emphasis on speed should suit him down to the ground and he looks extremely likely to run a good race. A strong-travelling sort, Brick Red has really come good of late, winning with ease on a couple of occasions last month, and he can hopefully secure us Placepot glory in style.
